The adult Mikuru Asahina is leading the current poll. You all do realize that in voting for her, you’re voting for a character who appears only in one four-minute scene during the entire 14-episode run of Suzumiya Haruhi, in which all she does is talk to Kyon and display a little cleavage? Is that really sufficient qualification to be one of the outstanding babes in anime?

Seriously though, I think she’s a kind of rorschach character. She goes from cute and vulnerable to sexy and confident, with all the intervening development (aside from the obvious) left to the viewer’s imagination.
I also think the popularity of the show gives her an advantage.
And of course you’re assuming we’re using something other than physical attributes to make our decisions.

They obviously vote for Mikuru in general, and the advanced version is only there to bend the rules of the poll.
But in any case you cannot take the whole excercise too seriously. Just think that Musubi got included over the heads of Miya and Tsukiumi. It clearly is a violation of the rules too, considering that Musubi is essentially a personification of a favourite, loyal dog. No disrespect to dogs, but hardly a well-rounded babe!

In defense of the voters for Mikuru, I can only say that they have good taste.

There’s also this to consider regarding the entry qualifications for Mikuru – her age is (“That’s classified” – approximately sixteen, and therefore eligible) for the major part of the series. In contrast, we have Yoko who is fourteen for most of the series – and whose age qualification was questioned by none other than our esteemed host.
I have no problem with either competing.

Actually Mikuru is a second-year student, and thus is probably seventeen for most of the series. (The fact that Haruhi abuses a senpai that way just shows how outrageous she is.)

Looking at the leaders in this poll and taking into account the winners of the last two, the final is going to be tough to vote. So many good choices….
